Clam Chowder Ingredients

Method

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Clams

Rinse the Manila clams under cold water to remove any sand or debris. Set aside.

  2. 2

    Cook the Bacon

In a large pot over medium heat, cook the bacon slices until crispy. Remove the bacon, crumble it, and set aside. Leave the bacon fat in the pot.

  3. 3

    Sauté Vegetables

Add butter to the pot with bacon fat. Sauté the diced celery and minced garlic for about 3-4 minutes until softened.

  4. 4

    Add Potatoes and Broth

Stir in the diced potatoes, vegetable broth, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 15 minutes until potatoes are tender.

  5. 5

    Add Clams and Cream

Add the rinsed clams and heavy cream to the pot. Simmer for an additional 5-7 minutes until the clams open up.

  6. 6

    Season and Serve

Stir in the paprika and crumbled bacon. Adjust seasoning to taste. Garnish with chopped chives before serving.
