Southern Fried Chicken & Biscuits
Method
Cooking Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Chicken
In a bowl, soak the chicken breasts in buttermilk for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight, to tenderize.
- 2
Mix the Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and baking powder.
- 3
Bread the Chicken
Remove the chicken from the buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off, then dredge in the flour mixture until fully coated.
- 4
Fry the Chicken
Heat oil in a deep skillet over medium-high heat. Fry the chicken until golden brown and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.
- 5
Make the Biscuits
Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C). In a bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in milk until just combined.
- 6
Bake the Biscuits
Turn the dough onto a floured surface, knead gently, and roll out to 1-inch thickness. Cut into rounds and place on a baking sheet. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden.

- 8
Prepare Honey Butter
In a small bowl, mix softened butter and honey until well combined. Serve with the biscuits.
