SANDWICHES

  1. 1

    Prep

Preheat the broiler and position a rack about 6 inches from the heat. Line a rimmed baking sheet with foil.

  2. 2

    Make basil aioli

In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, chopped fresh basil, lemon juice, minced garlic, salt, and pepper until smooth. Set aside.

  3. 3

    Prepare shrimp and bacon

Pat shrimp dry and lightly season with salt and pepper; toss with a drizzle of olive oil. Arrange bacon slices on the foil-lined sheet.

  4. 4

    Cook bacon

Broil bacon until crisp, about 4–6 minutes, flipping halfway. Transfer to paper towels to drain.

  5. 5

    Cook shrimp

Broil shrimp on a separate tray about 2–3 minutes per side until pink and opaque.

  6. 6

    Toast roll

Split the French roll and lightly toast under the broiler until golden.

  7. 7

    Assemble

Spread aioli on the cut sides of the roll. Layer 4 leaves of green leaf lettuce on the bottom half, then 2 tablespoons tomato jam, followed by the bacon, then the shrimp. Top with the roll, serve, and enjoy.
