Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the cucumber

Wash the cucumber thoroughly. Using a grater, grate the cucumber into a bowl. If you prefer a smoother texture, you can peel the cucumber before grating.

  2. 2

    Remove excess moisture

After grating, place the cucumber in a clean kitchen towel or cheesecloth. Squeeze out any excess moisture to avoid a watery Tatziki.

  3. 3

    Mince the garlic

Peel and finely mince the garlic cloves. You can use a garlic press if you have one for easier mincing.

  4. 4

    Chop the mint

Rinse the fresh mint leaves and pat them dry. Finely chop the mint leaves to release their flavor.

Mixing

  1. 5

    Combine ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the Lebanese yogurt, grated cucumber, minced garlic, and chopped mint.

  2. 6

    Season the mixture

Add salt, black pepper, and olive oil to the yogurt mixture. Stir well to combine all the ingredients thoroughly.

Serving

  1. 7

    Chill if desired

For best flavor, cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let the Tatziki chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving.

  2. 8

    Serve

Transfer the Tatziki to a serving bowl and garnish with additional mint leaves if desired. Serve with pita bread or fresh vegetables.
