Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Prepare the Baking Dish
Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with some melted butter.

Melt the Butter
In a small saucepan, melt 1 cup of unsalted butter over low heat and set aside.
Nut Filling

Combine the Nut Filling
In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 cups of chopped walnuts, 1 cup of chopped almonds, and 1 tsp of ground cinnamon. Mix well and set aside.
Assembling Baklava

Add the Nut Mixture
Spread a layer of the nut filling evenly over the layered filo. Repeat the process of layering 4 more sheets of filo brushed with butter, then add another layer of nuts. Continue this process until all nuts are used.

Finish with Filo
Top with remaining filo sheets, brushing each with butter. Ensure the top layer has at least 8 sheets for a crispy texture.

Cut the Baklava
Using a sharp knife, cut the baklava into diamond or square shapes before baking.
Baking

Bake the Baklava
Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for about 45-50 minutes or until the top is golden brown and crisp.
Making the Syrup

Prepare the Syrup
In a saucepan, combine 1 cup of granulated sugar, 0.5 cup of water, and 0.5 cup of honey. Bring to a boil over medium heat, then lower the heat and let it simmer for about 10 minutes. Stir in 1 tsp of vanilla extract and remove from heat.

Pour the Syrup
Once the baklava is baked, remove it from the oven and immediately pour the hot syrup evenly over the baklava. Let it soak for at least 4 hours before serving.
