Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Rinse the Rice

Start by rinsing the white rice under cold running water in a fine mesh strainer. This helps to remove excess starch and prevents the rice from becoming too sticky.

  2. 2

    Combine Ingredients

In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed rice, 1.5 cups of water, and 0.5 tsp of salt. Stir gently to distribute the salt.

  3. 3

    Bring to a Boil

Place the saucepan over medium-high heat and bring the mixture to a boil. Once it reaches a boil, reduce the heat to low.

  4. 4

    Simmer the Rice

Cover the saucepan with a tight-fitting lid and let the rice simmer on low heat for about 18-20 minutes, or until all the water is absorbed.

  5. 5

    Fluff the Rice

After the cooking time is up, remove the saucepan from heat and let it sit, covered, for an additional 5 minutes. Then, use a fork to fluff the rice gently.

  6. 6

    Add Furikake

Transfer the fluffed rice to a serving bowl and sprinkle 2 tablespoons of furikake over the top. Gently toss to combine or serve it as is.
