Method

Preparation of Ingredients

  1. 1

    Prepare the Protein

In a medium skillet over medium heat, cook the ground chicken, beef, or pork until browned and fully cooked, stirring occasionally. This should take about 5-7 minutes. Once cooked, remove from heat and set aside to cool.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Vegetables

While the protein is cooking, thinly slice the bell peppers and onion. Chop the lemon grass into fine pieces, discarding the tough outer layers. Set all prepared vegetables aside.

  3. 3

    Chop the Herbs

Finely chop the fresh cilantro, mint, and Thai basil and set aside in a bowl.

Mixing the Salad

  1. 4

    Combine Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked protein, sliced vegetables (bell peppers and onion), and chopped herbs (cilantro, mint, and Thai basil).

  2. 5

    Prepare Dressing

In a small bowl, whisk together fish sauce, lime juice, sugar, and chili flakes. Adjust seasoning to taste.

  3. 6

    Dress the Salad

Pour the dressing over the salad mixture and toss gently to combine, ensuring all ingredients are evenly coated.

Serving

  1. 7

    Serve

Transfer the salad to a serving platter or individual bowls. Enjoy immediately or refrigerate for up to 30 minutes before serving for enhanced flavors.
