Miso Soup
Green Salad
Rice with Furikake
Method
Teriyaki Beef
- 1
Prepare the Marinade
In a medium bowl, combine the soy sauce, mirin, sugar, grated ginger, minced garlic, and sesame oil. Whisk until the sugar is dissolved.
- 2
Marinate the Beef
Slice the beef into thin strips and add it to the marinade. Ensure all pieces are well-coated. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
- 3
Cook the Beef
Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Remove the beef from the marinade (reserve the marinade) and cook for about 3-4 minutes until browned. Add the reserved marinade to the skillet and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the beef.
Miso Soup
- 4
Prepare the Dashi Stock
In a saucepan, bring the dashi stock to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
- 5
Add Miso Paste
Dissolve the miso paste in a small bowl with a ladle of hot dashi. Gradually whisk it back into the pot. Do not boil the soup after adding miso.
- 6
Add Tofu and Seaweed
Add the cubed tofu and dried wakame into the soup. Let it simmer for about 2-3 minutes. Finally, stir in the sliced green onions just before serving.
Green Salad
- 7
Prepare the Vegetables
In a large bowl, combine the mixed salad greens, sliced cucumber, shredded carrot, and sliced radish.
- 8
Dress the Salad
Drizzle sesame dressing over the salad. Toss gently to combine and serve immediately.
Rice with Furikake
- 9
Rinse the Rice
Thoroughly rinse the Japanese short-grain rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
- 10
Cook the Rice
In a rice cooker or pot, combine the rinsed rice and water. Cook according to the rice cooker instructions or bring to a boil, then reduce to low heat, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes until cooked.
- 11
Season the Rice
Fluff the rice with a fork and sprinkle furikake seasoning over the top before serving.
