Poke Marinade

Ahi Poke

Method

Prepare the Poke Marinade

  1. 1

    Mix the Marinade

In a small bowl, combine soy sauce, sesame oil, sriracha, chopped green onions, sesame seeds, and lime juice. Whisk until well combined and set aside.

Prepare the Ahi Poke

  1. 2

    Dice the Tuna

Cut the sushi-grade ahi tuna into small 1/2-inch cubes and place them in a mixing bowl.

  2. 3

    Add Marinade

Pour the prepared poke marinade over the diced tuna. Gently fold to coat the tuna evenly. Let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes.

  3. 4

    Prepare Avocado and Cucumber

While the tuna is marinating, dice the avocado and cucumber into small cubes.

  4. 5

    Combine Ingredients

Once the tuna is marinated, add the diced avocado, cucumber, and seaweed salad to the bowl. Mix gently to combine.

Prepare the Batter

  1. 6

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, and salt.

  2. 7

    Add Water

Gradually add cold water to the dry ingredients, whisking until a smooth batter forms. The batter should be thick but pourable.

Fry the Poke Bombs

  1. 8

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 9

    Coat and Fry

Using a small scoop or spoon, take a portion of the poke mixture and dip it into the batter, coating it completely. Carefully drop it into the hot oil. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown, turning occasionally for even cooking.

  3. 10

    Drain Excess Oil

Once golden, remove the poke bombs from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Serve

  1. 11

    Garnish and Enjoy

Serve the spicy ahi poke bombs warm, garnished with additional sesame seeds and green onions if desired. Enjoy with soy sauce or sriracha on the side.
