Method

Chicken Marinade

  1. 1

    Prepare the Chicken

In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, sesame oil, minced garlic, minced ginger, and cornstarch. Mix well until cornstarch is dissolved.

  2. 2

    Marinate the Chicken

Add boneless, skinless chicken thighs to the marinade. Ensure all pieces are coated. Cover and let marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.

Cooking the Chicken

  1. 3

    Cook the Chicken

In a large skillet or wok, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the marinated chicken thighs and cook for about 6-8 minutes until browned and cooked through. Remove chicken from skillet and set aside.

  2. 4

    Toast the Sesame Seeds

In the same skillet, add sesame seeds and toast for 1-2 minutes until golden. Add the cooked chicken back into the skillet and mix well.

  3. 5

    Garnish

Sprinkle chopped green onions over the chicken and toss to combine.

Cooking Rice

  1. 6

    Cook the Rice

In a saucepan, combine jasmine rice and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low. Cover and simmer for about 15 minutes or until rice is tender and water is absorbed. Fluff with a fork.

Cooking Vegetables

  1. 7

    Steam the Vegetables

In a steamer basket over boiling water, add broccoli florets and carrots. Steam for about 5-7 minutes until tender. Add sliced bell pepper in the last 2 minutes of steaming.

Assembly

  1. 8

    Assemble the Donburi

In a bowl, place a serving of jasmine rice, top with the sesame chicken, and arrange steamed vegetables on the side. Serve hot.
