Method

Steak Preparation

  1. 1

    Season the Steak

Take the New York Strip Steaks and pat them dry with paper towels. Generously season both sides of each steak with salt and freshly cracked black pepper.

  2. 2

    Heat the Pan

In a large skillet or grill pan, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.

  3. 3

    Cook the Steak

Add the seasoned steaks to the hot pan. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or longer depending on your desired doneness.

  4. 4

    Rest the Steak

Once cooked to your liking, remove the steaks from the pan and let them rest on a plate for 5 minutes before slicing.

Side Preparation

  1. 5

    Prepare Garlic Mashed Potatoes

Boil the peeled and chopped potatoes in salted water until tender, about 15-20 minutes. Drain and return to the pot.

  2. 6

    Mash the Potatoes

Add butter and minced garlic to the drained potatoes. Mash until smooth and creamy, adding salt to taste.

  3. 7

    Steam the Broccoli

While the potatoes are cooking, steam the broccoli in a separate pot for about 5-7 minutes until vibrant green and tender.

Plating

  1. 8

    Plate the Dish

On each plate, serve a generous scoop of garlic mashed potatoes and a portion of steamed broccoli alongside the sliced New York steak.

  2. 9

    Garnish

Sprinkle the chopped fresh parsley over the steak and sides for a pop of color and flavor.
