Base Ingredients

Optional Seasoning (if desired)

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Corn

Start by taking 2 cups of corn kernels. If you are using fresh corn, ensure it is well-extracted from the cob. If using frozen corn, thaw and drain it properly.

  2. 2

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of sunflower oil over medium heat. Allow the oil to get hot but not smoking.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Cook the Corn

Add the corn to the heated skillet. Stir frequently, allowing the corn to cook for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes tender and slightly golden.

  2. 4

    Add Seasoning

Sprinkle 1 teaspoon of sea salt over the cooked corn. If you desire additional flavor, add 2 tablespoons of nutritional yeast, 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika, and 1 teaspoon of garlic powder. Stir well to combine all ingredients.

  3. 5

    Cool the Mixture

Remove the skillet from heat and let the mixture cool for about 10 minutes.

Popping

  1. 6

    Pop the Corn

Using a popcorn maker or air-popper, pop the cooled corn mixture. If you don't have an air-popper, you can use a stovetop method by placing the corn in a heavy-bottomed pot with a lid. Shake the pot occasionally until popping slows down.

  2. 7

    Seasoning Adjustment

Taste the popped corn and adjust seasoning if necessary by adding more sea salt or any of the optional spices.

Serving

  1. 8

    Serve

Transfer the PopCorners Sea Salt to a large bowl and enjoy as a healthy snack!
