Method
Salad Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Chicken
If using raw chicken, cook the chicken breast in a skillet over medium heat until fully cooked, approximately 15-20 minutes. Shred the cooked chicken and set aside.
- 2
Prepare the Vegetables
In a large mixing bowl, combine mixed greens, red cabbage, carrots, and green onions. Toss gently to combine.
- 3
Add Fruits and Nuts
Add the drained mandarin oranges and sliced almonds to the salad mixture, gently folding them in.
- 4
Add Chicken
Add the shredded chicken to the salad and toss all ingredients together lightly.
- 5
Prepare Crispy Wontons
If using store-bought crispy wontons, set aside. If making homemade, fry wonton wrappers in oil until golden brown and crispy, then drain on paper towels.
Dressing Preparation
- 6
Mix the Dressing
In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, honey, ground ginger, minced garlic, and black pepper until well combined.
- 7
Combine Dressing with Salad
Drizzle the dressing over the salad mixture and toss to coat evenly.
- 8
Serve
Top the salad with crispy wontons right before serving for added crunch.
