Method
Steak Preparation
- 1
- 2
Cook the Steak
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the steaks and sear for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare. In the last minute of cooking, add butter to the skillet and spoon the melted butter over the steaks for extra flavor.
- 3
Rest the Steak
Remove the steaks from the skillet and let them rest on a cutting board for about 5 minutes before slicing.
Rice Preparation
- 4
Cook the Rice
In a medium saucepan, combine the long-grain rice, water, and salt. Bring to a boil over high heat. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes until the rice is tender and water is absorbed. Remove from heat and let it sit covered for 5 minutes.
Mac and Cheese Preparation
- 5
Cook the Macaroni
In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the elbow macaroni according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- 6
- 7
Combine Mac and Cheese
Add the drained macaroni to the cheese sauce and mix well until fully combined. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes to heat through.
Assembly
- 8
Serve the Dish
On a plate, serve the sliced New York steak alongside a scoop of rice, a generous portion of mac and cheese, and a serving of kimchi. Enjoy your meal!
