Base

Method

Preparing the Base

  1. 1

    Cook Sushi Rice

Rinse the sushi rice under cold water until the water runs clear. In a pot, combine the rinsed rice and water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 15 minutes or until water is absorbed. Remove from heat and let it sit covered for 10 minutes.

  2. 2

    Season the Rice

In a small saucepan, heat the rice vinegar, sugar, and salt over low heat, stirring until sugar dissolves. Once the rice has rested, transfer it to a large bowl and gently fold in the vinegar mixture. Allow the rice to cool to room temperature.

Preparing the Protein

  1. 3

    Marinate the Protein

In a bowl, combine the diced tuna or salmon, soy sauce, sesame oil, and sliced green onions. Gently toss to coat the fish evenly with the marinade. Let it marinate for about 10-15 minutes in the refrigerator.

Assembling the Bowl

  1. 4

    Build the Bowl

In a bowl or a small plate, start by placing a layer of sushi rice at the base. Next, artistically arrange the marinated fish on top of the rice, followed by the sliced cucumber, grated carrot, edamame, diced avocado, and seaweed salad.

  2. 5

    Finish with Garnishes

Sprinkle sesame seeds over the top and add nori strips and pickled ginger as desired. Serve immediately.
