Prepare Sticky Rice
- 1
Soak the Rice
Rinse the glutinous rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Soak the rice in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- 2
Steam the Rice
Drain the soaked rice and place it in a steamer lined with cheesecloth. Steam over boiling water for about 30-40 minutes or until the rice is tender and sticky.
Make Coconut Sauce
- 3
Combine Ingredients
In a saucepan, combine the coconut milk, sugar, and salt. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is dissolved. Do not bring to a boil.
- 4
Reserve Sauce
Once the mixture is heated and the sugar dissolved, remove from heat and set aside 1/4 cup of the sauce for drizzling later.
Prepare Mango
- 5
Slice the Mango
Peel the ripe mangoes and slice them into thin wedges or cubes, discarding the pit.
Assemble Dish
- 6
Combine Rice and Sauce
Once the sticky rice is cooked, transfer it to a bowl and mix in the remaining coconut sauce while it's still warm.
- 7
Serve
To serve, place a portion of the sticky rice on a plate, top with sliced mango, and drizzle with the reserved coconut sauce. Garnish with sesame seeds and mint leaves as desired.
