Main Ingredients

Oil for Frying

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Marinate the Squid

In a bowl, combine minced garlic, grated ginger, chili powder, salt, black pepper, and lemon juice. Add the cleaned squid rings to the marinade and mix well. Cover the bowl and let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Coating

In a separate bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour and cornstarch until well combined. Set aside for coating the squid.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Crushed Chips

Crush the Lays Hot Chili Chips into fine bits using a rolling pin or a food processor. Place the crushed chips in a shallow dish for coating.

Cooking

  1. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 180°C (350°F).

  2. 5

    Coat the Squid

Remove the marinated squid rings from the refrigerator. First, coat each ring in the flour and cornstarch mixture, shaking off the excess. Then dip the coated squid in the crushed Lays Hot Chili Chips, pressing lightly to adhere the chips to the squid.

  3. 6

    Fry the Squid

Carefully place the coated squid rings into the hot oil in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Use a slotted spoon to transfer the fried squid to a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.

  4. 7

    Serve

Serve the Lays Hot Chili Squid hot, garnished with lemon wedges and your favorite dipping sauce.
