Method

For the Korean Burger Patties

  1. 1

    Prepare the Patty Mixture

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, minced garlic, minced ginger, chopped green onions, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each into a patty. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.

  3. 3

    Cook the Patties

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach an internal temperature of 160°F (70°C).

For the Korean BBQ Sauce

  1. 4

    Combine Ingredients

In a small saucepan, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, minced garlic, minced ginger, sesame oil, rice vinegar, cornstarch, and water.

  2. 5

    Cook the Sauce

Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly until it thickens. Remove from heat and set aside.

For Assembly

  1. 6

    Prepare the Buns

Toast the burger buns lightly on the grill or in a toaster.

  2. 7

    Assemble the Burgers

On the bottom half of each bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by a burger patty, a slice of tomato, a generous spoonful of kimchi, pickled cucumbers, and a drizzle of the Korean BBQ sauce.

  3. 8

    Finish and Serve

Sprinkle sesame seeds on top and place the top half of the bun to complete the burger. Serve immediately.
