Method
Hamburger Patties
- 1
Prepare the Patties
In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat. Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape each into a patty about 3/4 inch thick.

Grilled Onions
- 3
Sauté the Onions
In the same skillet used for the patties, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Slice the onion into thin rings and add to the skillet. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the onions are soft and caramelized. Remove from heat and set aside.
Brown Gravy
- 4
Make the Gravy
In the same skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour and cook for about 1 minute until lightly browned. Gradually whisk in the beef broth, stirring constantly to avoid lumps. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook until thickened, about 3-5 minutes. Season with salt and black pepper.
