Method

Cooking Rice

  1. 1

    Prepare the Rice

In a medium saucepan, combine the white rice and water. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 18-20 minutes or until rice is tender and water is absorbed.

Cooking Hamburger Patties

  1. 2

    Make the Patties

In a bowl, mix the ground beef with salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Form into two equal-sized patties.

  2. 3

    Cook the Patties

Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness.

Cooking Eggs

  1. 4

    Fry the Eggs

In a small frying pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Crack the eggs into the pan and cook for about 2-3 minutes, or until the whites are set but the yolks are still runny. Flip if you prefer over-easy eggs.

Making Brown Gravy

  1. 5

    Prepare the Gravy

In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for about 1 minute until bubbly. Gradually whisk in the beef broth and soy sauce. Bring to a simmer, then season with salt and black pepper. Cook until thickened, about 3-5 minutes.

Assembling the Plate

  1. 6

    Plate the Dish

On a plate, place two scoops of rice, top with the hamburger patties, and place a fried egg on each patty. Drizzle the brown gravy over the entire dish.
