Method

Preparing Rice

  1. 1

    Cook the Rice

In a medium saucepan, bring 2 cups of water to a boil. Add 1 cup of rice, reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 18-20 minutes or until the rice is tender and water is absorbed. Remove from heat and let it sit covered for 5 minutes.

Cooking the Patty

  1. 2

Form and Cook the Hamburger Patty

While the rice is cooking, shape the ground beef into a patty about 1/2 inch thick. Season with salt and pepper to taste. In a skillet over medium-high heat, cook the patty for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until it reaches your desired doneness. Remove from heat and let it rest.

Frying the Egg

  1. 3

    Fry the Egg

In the same skillet used for the patty, crack the egg and cook sunny side up or to your preference. Cook for about 2-3 minutes until the whites are set but the yolk is still runny.

Preparing the Gravy

  1. 4

    Make the Brown Gravy

In a small saucepan, combine the brown gravy mix and 1 cup of water. Stir over medium heat until the mixture comes to a boil and thickens, which usually takes about 3-5 minutes.

Assembling the Bowl

  1. 5

    Assemble the Hamburger Loco Bowl

In a bowl, serve a scoop of the cooked rice as the base. Place the hamburger patty on top of the rice, add the fried egg, and drizzle with the warm brown gravy. Enjoy your Hamburger Loco Bowl!
