Burger Patties

Burger Assembly

Method

Prepare the Burger Patties

  1. 1

    Mix the Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently with your hands until well combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the meat mixture into four equal portions and shape them into patties, about ¾ inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent them from puffing up while cooking.

  3. 3

    Chill the Patties

Place the patties on a plate and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to help them hold their shape during cooking.

Cook the Burgers

  1. 4

    Preheat the Grill or Skillet

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. If using a skillet, add a little oil to prevent sticking.

  2. 5

    Cook the Patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side. Flip the patties and cook for another 3-4 minutes for medium doneness, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.

  3. 6

    Add Cheese

In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and cover the grill or skillet to melt the cheese.

Assemble the Burgers

  1. 7

    Prepare the Toppings

Wash and dry the lettuce leaves. Slice the tomato into thick rounds.

  2. 8

    Build the Burger

Toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster. On the bottom half of each bun, layer a lettuce leaf, a cooked patty with melted cheese, a slice of tomato, and pickles. Add ketchup and mustard to taste before placing the top half of the bun.

  3. 9

    Serve

Serve the burgers immediately with your favorite sides, such as fries or a salad.
