Burger Patties

Toppings and Buns

Method

Prepare the Burger Patties

  1. 1

    Mix the Beef

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until just combined; do not overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form Patties

Divide the mixture into four equal portions and form into patties, making a slight indentation in the center of each.

  3. 3

    Cook the Patties

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach your desired doneness. Add a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each patty in the last minute of cooking to melt.

Make the Gravy

  1. 4

    Melt the Butter

In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter until bubbling.

  2. 5

    Add Flour

Whisk in the flour and cook for about 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly until the mixture becomes a light golden color.

  3. 6

    Add Broth and Seasonings

Gradually whisk in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a simmer and cook until thickened, about 3-5 minutes. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

Assemble the Burgers

  1. 7

    Prepare the Buns

Toast the hamburger buns lightly on the grill or in a toaster.

  2. 8

    Assemble

Place a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of each bun, add a cooked cheeseburger patty, a slice of tomato, pickles, and generously top with the gravy. Place the top half of the bun over the toppings.
