Burger Ingredients

Method

Burger Preparation

  1. 1

    Form the Patties

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently until just combined.

  2. 2

    Shape the Patties

Divide the beef mixture into four equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, about ¾ inch thick.

  3. 3

    Cook the Patties

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until they reach your desired doneness. During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty to melt.

Gravy Preparation

  1. 4

    Make the Roux

In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Once melted, add the all-purpose flour and whisk constantly for about 2-3 minutes or until it turns golden brown.

  2. 5

    Add the Broth

Gradually whisk in the beef broth, ensuring there are no lumps. Continue whisking until the gravy thickens, about 5-7 minutes.

  3. 6

    Season the Gravy

Stir in the soy sauce and Worcestershire sauce. Season with salt and black pepper to taste. Simmer for an additional 2 minutes.

Assembly

  1. 7

    Assemble the Burgers

Place each cooked patty on a bun. Generously spoon the gravy over the top of each burger. Top with the other half of the bun.
