Noodles and Wonton

Method

Preparing the Wontons

  1. 1

    Make the Wontons

Place a wonton wrapper on a clean surface. Add about 1 teaspoon of filling (if desired, your choice of meat or vegetables) in the center, then wet the edges with water. Fold the wrapper in half to form a triangle and press the edges to seal. Optionally, you can further fold the edges over to create a more decorative shape.

  2. 2

    Fry the Wontons

Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully add the wontons in batches. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Sprinkle with salt while hot.

Cooking the Saimin

  1. 3

    Cook the Saimin Noodles

Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add the saimin noodles and cook according to package instructions, usually about 3-5 minutes. Drain and rinse under cold water to stop cooking. Set aside.

  2. 4

    Stir-Fry the Vegetables

In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the chopped green onions, julienned carrots, and shredded cabbage. Stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until vegetables are tender but still crisp.

  3. 5

    Combine Ingredients

Add the cooked saimin noodles to the skillet with the stir-fried vegetables. Pour in the soy sauce and sesame oil. Toss everything together gently, ensuring the noodles are evenly coated and heated through, about 2-3 minutes.
