Fish Fillet

Sandwich Assembly

Macaroni Salad (optional)

Method

Fish Fillet Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Fish

Rinse the fish fillets under cold water and pat dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt and black pepper.

  2. 2

    Set Up the Breading Station

In one bowl, place the flour. In another bowl, whisk together the egg and milk. In a third bowl, combine cornmeal, salt, and pepper.

  3. 3

    Bread the Fish

Dip each fillet first into the flour, then into the egg mixture, and finally coat with the cornmeal mixture, pressing the cornmeal onto the fish.

  4. 4

    Fry the Fish

In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Once hot, add the breaded fish fillets and fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Sandwich Assembly

  1. 5

    Assemble the Sandwich

On the bottom half of each burger bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by the fried fish fillet, a slice of tomato, pickles, and cheese (if using). Spread tartar sauce on the top half of the bun and place it on top.

Macaroni Salad Preparation (Optional)

  1. 6

    Cook the Macaroni

In a pot of boiling salted water, cook the elbow macaroni according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and rinse under cold water.

  2. 7

    Mix the Salad

In a large bowl, combine the cooked macaroni, mayonnaise, diced celery, chopped green onion, and season with salt and pepper to taste. Mix well.
