Method
Cooking Edamame
- 1
Prepare the Water
In a medium-sized pot, bring 4 cups of water to a rolling boil over high heat.
- 2
Add Edamame
Once the water is boiling, add 2 cups of edamame pods to the pot. If using frozen edamame, there is no need to thaw them.
- 3
Boil
Allow the edamame to boil for about 5-6 minutes for fresh edamame or 3-5 minutes for frozen edamame, until they are tender but still firm.
- 4
Drain
Using a colander, drain the edamame and rinse them briefly under cold water to stop the cooking process.
- 5
Season
While the edamame are still warm, sprinkle with 1 teaspoon of sea salt and toss to combine. If using optional seasonings, drizzle 1 tablespoon of sesame oil, sprinkle 1 teaspoon of red pepper flakes, and add 1 tablespoon of lemon juice for extra flavor.
