Burger Patties

Buns

Optional Toppings

Method

Prepare the Patties

  1. 1

    Make the Patty Mixture

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until just combined; do not overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the meat mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a round patty, about ¾ inch thick.

Cook the Patties

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill or Skillet

Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes until hot.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side until browned. Flip the patties and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes for medium doneness.

  3. 5

    Add Cheese (Optional)

If using cheese, place a slice on each patty during the last minute of cooking to allow it to melt.

Assemble the Burger

  1. 6

    Toast the Buns

While the patties are cooking, you can toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

  2. 7

    Build the Burger

Place the cooked patty on the bottom half of the toasted bun. Add any optional toppings such as lettuce, tomato, and pickles if desired.

  3. 8

    Top and Serve

Place the top half of the bun over the toppings and serve immediately while hot.
