Method
Dough Balls
- 1
Prepare the Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and granulated sugar. Mix well.
- 2
- 3
Heat Oil
In a deep pot or fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Fry the Dough Balls
Using a small scoop or spoon, drop balls of dough into the hot oil, frying in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
Cinnamon Sugar
- 5
Mix Cinnamon Sugar
In a small bowl, combine the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon. Mix well.
- 6
Whiskey Caramel Gravy
- 7
Make Caramel
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, add the granulated sugar. Stir constantly until the sugar melts and turns a golden amber color.
- 8
Add Cream and Butter
Carefully add the heavy cream and unsalted butter to the melted sugar, stirring continuously. Be cautious as the mixture will bubble vigorously.
- 9
Add Whiskey and Salt
Once the caramel is smooth, remove it from heat and stir in the Jameson whiskey and salt. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
