Method

Cooking the Pasta

  1. 1

    Boil the Water

In a large pot, bring water to a boil over high heat. Add 1 teaspoon of salt to the boiling water.

  2. 2

    Cook the Pasta

Add 200g of pasta to the boiling water. Cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.

  3. 3

    Drain the Pasta

Once cooked, drain the pasta in a colander and set aside.

Making the Sauce

  1. 4

    Heat the Olive Oil

In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat.

  2. 5

    Sauté the Garlic

Add 3 minced garlic cloves to the skillet and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn.

  3. 6

    Add Tomato Sauce

Pour in 400ml of canned tomato sauce and stir to combine.

  4. 7

    Season the Sauce

Add 1 teaspoon of dried basil, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1 teaspoon of black pepper. Stir well and let the sauce simmer for about 10 minutes.

  5. 8

    Mix in Parmesan

After simmering, stir in 50g of grated Parmesan cheese until melted and well combined.

Combining Pasta and Sauce

  1. 9

    Combine

Add the drained pasta to the skillet with the sauce. Toss well to coat all the pasta evenly with the sauce.

  2. 10

    Add Optional Ingredients

If desired, add fresh basil and red pepper flakes to taste. Toss again to mix.

  3. 11

    Serve

Plate the pasta and serve hot, optionally garnished with extra Parmesan cheese.
