Cooking Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Roast
Remove the prime rib from the refrigerator and let it come to room temperature for about 1 hour before cooking.
- 2
Season the Meat
Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C). In a small bowl, mix together the kosher salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, rosemary, and thyme. Rub the olive oil all over the prime rib, then generously season it with the spice mixture.
- 3
Roast the Prime Rib
Place the prime rib in a roasting pan, bone side down. Roast in the preheated oven for 20 minutes to develop a crust. Then reduce the oven temperature to 325°F (163°C) and continue to roast for approximately 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 130°F (54°C) for medium-rare.
- 4
Rest the Meat
Remove the prime rib from the oven and cover it loosely with aluminum foil. Let it rest for at least 20 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meat.
- 5
Serve
Slice the prime rib to your desired thickness and serve with beef broth on the side for dipping.
