Method

Brownie Base

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.

  2. 2

    Melt Butter and Mix Sugars

In a saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Once melted, remove from heat and stir in granulated sugar and brown sugar until well combined.

  3. 3

    Add Eggs and Vanilla

Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

  4. 4

    Combine Dry Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, and salt.

  5. 5

    Mix Dry and Wet Ingredients

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chips.

  6. 6

    Bake the Brownies

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.

  7. 7

    Cool the Brownies

Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for at least 20 minutes before cutting into squares.

Bourbon Caramel Sauce

  1. 8

    Make the Caramel

In a saucepan, combine sugar and water. Cook over medium heat without stirring until the mixture turns an amber color.

  2. 9

    Add Cream and Bourbon

Remove from heat and carefully whisk in the heavy cream and bourbon. Stir in the salt and let cool slightly.

Serving

  1. 10

    Plate the Brownies

Serve brownies warm, drizzled with bourbon caramel sauce and a sprinkle of Maldon salt.

  2. 11

    Add Ice Cream

Top each serving with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream.
