Method

Preparation of Base

  1. 1

    Mix the Base Ingredients

In a mixing glass, combine 2 cups of bourbon whiskey, 0.5 cup of simple syrup, and 0.5 cup of fresh lemon juice. Stir well until combined.

Barrel Infusion

  1. 2

    Infuse the Bourbon

In a clean jar, combine the mixed bourbon from the previous step with 0.5 cup of oak chips, 1 whole vanilla bean (split in half), and 0.25 cup of dried cherries. Seal the jar tightly.

  2. 3

    Let It Sit

Allow the jar to sit in a cool, dark place for at least 5 days, shaking it gently every day to mix the flavors. Taste on the 5th day, and if desired, let it infuse longer.

Serving

  1. 4

    Strain and Serve

Once the desired flavor has been achieved, strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a clean bottle, discarding the solids. Serve over ice in a glass.

  2. 5

    Garnish

Garnish each drink with a lemon twist and a maraschino cherry for a delightful finish.
