Method
Bread Preparation
- 1
Activate Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- 2
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.
- 3
Combine Ingredients
Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the activated yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir until a dough forms.
- 4
Knead Dough
Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 5
First Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- 6
Shape Loaf
Punch down the risen dough, shape it into a small loaf, and place it on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- 7
Second Rise
Cover the loaf with a cloth and let it rise again for about 30 minutes.
- 8
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- 9
Bake
Bake the loaf in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
- 10
Cool and Serve
Let the bread cool on a wire rack for a few minutes before slicing and serving. Drizzle with additional olive oil if desired.
