Method
Prepare the Patty
- 1
In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently until the ingredients are just combined. Avoid overworking the meat to keep the patty tender.
- 2
Form the beef mixture into a patty approximately 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of the patty to prevent it from puffing up while cooking.
- 3
Cover the patty and refrigerate for 15-30 minutes to help it hold its shape while cooking.

- 6
Flip the patty and cook for another 3-4 minutes for medium doneness. Add the cheese slice on top during the last minute of cooking to allow it to melt.
Assemble the Burger
- 7
While the patty cooks, prepare your burger bun by toasting it lightly if desired.
- 8
On the bottom half of the burger bun, place the lettuce leaf, followed by the cooked patty with melted cheese.
- 9
Top the patty with tomato slices, red onion rings, and pickles.
