Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Mac and Cheese

Method

Mac and Cheese Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Elbow Macaroni

In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the elbow macaroni according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  2. 2

    Make the Cheese Sauce

In the same pot, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add 2 tablespoons of flour and whisk for 1-2 minutes until it turns golden. Gradually whisk in the milk until smooth. Cook until thickened.

  3. 3

    Add Cheese

Remove from heat and stir in the cheddar cheese, salt, and black pepper until fully melted and smooth. Add the cooked macaroni and mix until well combined.

Burger Preparation

  1. 4

    Form the Patties

In a bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Form into 2 equal-sized patties.

  2. 5

    Cook the Burger Patties

Preheat a grill or frying pan over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until they reach desired doneness. During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty to melt.

  3. 6

    Cook the Bacon

In the same pan, cook the hickory smoked bacon until crispy. Remove and set aside.

Grilled Cheese Assembly

  1. 7

    Prepare the Bread

Spread butter on one side of each bread slice.

  2. 8

    Assemble the Sandwich

In a skillet over medium heat, place 2 slices of bread, buttered side down. Layer with mac and cheese, a burger patty, and crispy bacon. Top with another slice of mac and cheese, followed by another slice of bread, buttered side up.

  3. 9

    Grill the Sandwich

Cook the sandwich for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy. Repeat with the second sandwich.
