Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prep the Vegetables

Slice the red onion and bell pepper into thin strips. Dice the tomato and wash the lettuce leaves.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Steak

Trim any excess fat from the sirloin steak and season both sides with salt and black pepper.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Cook the Steak

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned sirloin steak and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until it reaches your desired doneness. Remove the steak from heat and let it rest for a few minutes before chopping it into bite-sized pieces.

  2. 4

    Sauté the Vegetables

In the same skillet or grill, add a little oil if necessary and toss in the sliced red onion and bell pepper. Sauté for about 3-4 minutes, or until they are tender and slightly caramelized.

  3. 5

    Melt the Cheese

Return the chopped steak to the skillet with the vegetables, and place the Swiss cheese slices over the steak and vegetables. Cover the skillet to help the cheese melt, cooking for an additional 1-2 minutes.

Assembly

  1. 6

    Build the Sandwich

Spread mayo on the interior of each sub roll. Fill each roll with the steak, onion, and bell pepper mixture. Top with fresh lettuce leaves and diced tomato.

  2. 7

    Serve

Cut the sandwich in half if desired and serve immediately while hot.
