Method

For the Fried Pickles

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pickles

Drain the sliced dill pickles and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.

  2. 2

    Make the Batter

In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornmeal, baking powder, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.

  3. 3

    Dunk in Buttermilk

Pour the buttermilk into the dry mixture and stir until just combined. The batter should be thick enough to coat the pickles.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  5. 5

    Fry the Pickles

Dip each pickle slice into the batter, ensuring they are fully coated, then carefully place them into the hot oil. Fry in batches for 2-3 minutes until golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.

For the Ranch Dressing

  1. 6

    Combine Ingredients

In a medium bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sour cream, buttermilk, dill weed, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper until smooth and well combined.

  2. 7

    Chill the Dressing

Cover the ranch dressing and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow the flavors to meld.
