Fries

Method

Preparation of Fries

  1. 1

    Cutting the Potatoes

Wash and peel the Russet potatoes, then cut them into fries (about 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick).

  2. 2

    Soaking the Fries

Place the cut fries in a bowl of cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch. Drain and pat dry.

Making the Beer Batter

  1. 3

    Creating the Batter

In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika. Mix well.

  2. 4

    Adding the Beer

Gradually whisk in the beer until the batter is smooth and thick enough to coat the fries.

Frying the Fries

  1. 5

    Heating the Oil

In a deep fryer or a large pot, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).

  2. 6

    Coating the Fries

Dip the dried fries into the beer batter, allowing excess batter to drip off.

  3. 7

    Frying

Carefully place the coated fries into the hot oil in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pot. Fry for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown.

  4. 8

    Draining and Seasoning

Remove the fries from the oil using a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Immediately sprinkle with salt while hot.
