Cheese Curds

Method

Cheese Curds Preparation

  1. 1

    Set Up the Breading Station

In three separate bowls, set up your breading station. In the first bowl, place the flour mixed with salt and pepper. In the second bowl, whisk the egg and milk together. In the third bowl, add the bread crumbs.

  2. 2

    Bread the Cheese Curds

Take each cheese curd and first coat it in the flour mixture, then dip it into the egg and milk mixture, and finally coat it with the bread crumbs. Make sure each curd is fully covered.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer for accuracy.

  4. 4

    Fry the Cheese Curds

Carefully add the breaded cheese curds to the hot oil in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pot. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown. Use a slotted spoon to remove them and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.

Marinara Sauce Preparation

  1. 5

    Cook the Marinara Sauce

In a saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant. Then, add the crushed tomatoes, oregano, salt, and pepper. Stir well and let it simmer for about 10-15 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.

  2. 6

    Add Fresh Basil

Stir in the chopped fresh basil just before serving the sauce. Remove from heat and set aside.
