Salad Base

Method

Prepare the Salad Base

  1. 1

    Wash and Chop Romaine Lettuce

Rinse the romaine lettuce under cold water to remove any dirt. Shake off excess water and chop the lettuce into bite-sized pieces.

  2. 2

    Prepare Croutons

If using store-bought croutons, measure 1 cup. If making homemade, cube stale bread, toss with olive oil, salt, and garlic powder, and bake at 375°F (190°C) for about 10-15 minutes until golden brown.

  3. 3

    Grate Parmesan Cheese

Using a box grater or food processor, grate the parmesan cheese until you have about 1 cup.

Make the Caesar Dressing

  1. 4

    Combine Dressing Ingredients

In a medium bowl, add 1 cup of mayonnaise, 2 minced garlic cloves, 2 tablespoons of lemon juice, 1 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce, 1 teaspoon of Dijon mustard, and 1 tablespoon of olive oil.

  2. 5

    Season the Dressing

Add salt and black pepper to taste. Whisk everything together until well combined and smooth.

Assemble the Salad

  1. 6

    Combine Ingredients

In a large salad bowl, add the chopped romaine lettuce, croutons, and grated parmesan cheese.

  2. 7

    Add Dressing

Pour the prepared Caesar dressing over the salad ingredients. Toss gently until everything is evenly coated with the dressing.

  3. 8

    Serve

Serve the Caesar salad immediately while the croutons are still crispy.
