Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Boil the Water

In a medium saucepan, bring 2 cups of water to a boil over medium heat.

  2. 2

    Add Tea Leaves and Spices

Once the water is boiling, add 2 tablespoons of black tea leaves, 1 tablespoon of grated ginger, 4 crushed cardamom pods, 3 cloves, 1 cinnamon stick, and 4 crushed black peppercorns to the boiling water.

  3. 3

    Simmer the Mixture

Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for about 5-7 minutes. This allows the flavors of the spices and tea to infuse into the water.

Finalizing the Chai

  1. 4

    Add Milk and Sugar

After simmering, add 1 cup of milk and 2 tablespoons of sugar to the mixture. Stir well to combine.

  2. 5

    Bring to a Boil Again

Increase the heat to medium and bring the chai back to a boil. Watch it closely to prevent it from overflowing.

  3. 6

    Strain and Serve

Once it reaches a boil, remove from heat. Strain the chai through a fine mesh strainer into cups to remove the tea leaves and spices. Serve hot.
