Aloo Tikki Ingredients
Method
Aloo Tikki Preparation
- 1
Boil the Potatoes
Peel and cut the potatoes into quarters. Boil them in water until tender, about 15-20 minutes. Drain and let them cool.
- 2
Mash the Potatoes
Once cooled, mash the boiled potatoes in a large mixing bowl until smooth.
- 3
Prepare the Mixture
Chop the onion and green chilies finely. Add the chopped onion, green chilies, ginger paste, green peas, coriander powder, cumin powder, garam masala, salt, and chopped coriander leaves to the mashed potatoes. Mix well until all ingredients are combined.
- 4
Shape the Tikkis
Take a small portion of the mixture and shape it into a round patty or tikki. Repeat until all the mixture is used.
- 5
Coat with Breadcrumbs
Roll each tikki in breadcrumbs to coat them evenly. This will give a crispy texture when deep-fried.
- 6
Heat the Oil
In a deep frying pan, heat the oil over medium heat until hot, but not smoking.
- 7
Fry the Tikkis
Carefully place the coated tikkis in the hot oil. Fry them in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until golden brown and crispy.
- 8
Drain the Tikkis
Once fried, remove the tikkis with a slotted spoon and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
- 9
Serve
Serve hot with chutney or yogurt as a dipping sauce.
