Chili Ingredients

Method

Chili Preparation

  1. 1

    Cook the Beef

In a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.

  2. 2

    Sauté the Vegetables

Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the pot with the beef. Sauté for about 3-4 minutes until the onion is translucent.

  3. 3

    Add Spices and Tomatoes

Stir in the chili powder, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Mix well, then add the diced tomatoes (with juice) and beef broth. Bring to a simmer.

  4. 4

    Incorporate Beans

Add the pinto beans to the pot, stirring to combine. Allow the chili to simmer on low heat for about 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  5. 5

    Serve

Serve the chili hot, topped with shredded white cheddar cheese, a dollop of sour cream, and chopped scallions.
