Hand-Cut Idaho Fries
Method
Cooking Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Potatoes
Wash and peel the Russet potatoes. Cut them into thick strips, about 1/2 inch wide, to create hand-cut fries.
- 2
Soak the Fries
Soak the cut fries in cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch. This helps make them crispier when cooked.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a deep fryer or a large pot, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Fry the Potatoes
Drain and pat the fries dry with paper towels. Carefully add a batch of fries to the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pot. Fry for about 5-7 minutes or until golden brown.

Serve the hand-cut Idaho fries hot, either as a personal serving or in a shareable bowl for family or friends.
