Flan Ingredients

Method

Flan Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Caramel

In a saucepan over medium heat, add the sugar. Stir constantly until the sugar melts and turns a golden brown color. Carefully pour the caramel into a round baking dish, tilting to coat the bottom evenly. Set aside to harden.

  2. 2

    Mix the Custard

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until smooth.

  3. 3

    Bake the Flan

Pour the custard mixture over the hardened caramel in the baking dish. Place the baking dish in a larger baking pan filled with hot water (water bath). Bake at 350°F (175°C) for about 50-60 minutes, or until the flan is set and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.

  4. 4

    Cool and Serve

Remove the flan from the water bath and let it cool to room temperature. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight. To serve, run a knife around the edges, invert onto a plate, and allow the caramel to drizzle over the top.
