For the Southern Fried Catfish Sandwich

Method

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Catfish

In a bowl, soak the catfish fillets in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes to tenderize and flavor the fish.

  2. 2

    Mix the Coating

In another bowl, combine cornmeal, flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.

  3. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  4. 4

    Coat the Catfish

Remove the catfish fillets from the buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge each fillet in the cornmeal mixture, coating well.

  5. 5

    Fry the Catfish

Carefully place the coated fillets into the hot oil. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  6. 6

    Assemble the Sandwich

On each toasted bun, place a fried catfish fillet, a generous amount of marinated slaw, and a few pickles.

  7. 7

    Serve

Serve immediately while hot and enjoy your Southern Fried Catfish Sandwich!
