Prepare the Tempeh
Crumble the tempeh into small pieces using your hands or a fork.

Cook the Vegetables
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.

Simmer
Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until heated through.

Toast the Buns
While the mixture simmers, toast the hamburger buns until golden brown.

Assemble the Sloppy Moes
Spoon the tempeh and black bean mixture onto the bottom half of each toasted bun. Top with sliced pickles and place the top half of the bun on.

Serve
Serve your Sloppy Moes warm with extra BBQ sauce if desired.
