Fried Pickles
Method
Preparation and Cooking
- 1
Prepare the Pickles
Drain the dill pickle slices and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
- 2
Make the Batter
In a mixing bowl, combine the buttermilk and eggs. In another bowl, mix the flour, cornmeal, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, black pepper, and salt.
- 3
Batter the Pickles
Dip each pickle slice first into the buttermilk mixture, allowing excess to drip off, then dredge in the flour-cornmeal mixture until fully coated.
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a deep skillet or fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
- 5
Fry the Pickles
Fry the battered pickles in batches for about 2-3 minutes or until they are golden brown. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- 6
Serve
Serve the fried pickles hot with creamy Alabama style white BBQ sauce on the side.
