Method
Cooking Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Meatballs
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, bread crumbs, grated parmesan, minced garlic, egg, chopped basil, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
- 2
Shape the Meatballs
Form the mixture into meatballs, about 1-1.5 inches in diameter. Place on a baking sheet.
- 3
Cook the Meatballs
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add meatballs to the skillet and cook until browned on all sides, about 8-10 minutes. Remove and set aside.
- 4
Make the Sauce
In the same skillet, add crushed tomatoes, sugar, and dried oregano. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.
- 5
Combine Meatballs with Sauce
Return the meatballs to the skillet with the sauce. Cover and let simmer for 15-20 minutes, until the meatballs are cooked through.
- 6
Cook the Spaghetti
Meanwhile, cook spaghetti according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- 7
Serve
Serve the spaghetti topped with meatballs and sauce. Garnish with additional parmesan and fresh basil if desired.
